Probably Cocoa Beach, via SR 528 or US Hwy 192.

Cocoa is the closest, and is easy to get to. Most will say the gulf beaches are better, but does take twice as long to get to.

But Cocoa is fine if just wanting a day trip to the beach. Nice pier there with some small shops and restaurants, and you may want to include some shopping at Ron Jon's Surf Shop.

I have never had it take more than 2 hours to get to Clearwater from Orlando, usually I make it back in an hour and 45 minutes. I would drive to Clearwater, its warmer and nicer in general. Just don't get caught in Tampa rush hour on your way back.

You asked for the best, but now the closest? Which is more important?

The best beaches are west, and the fastest to get to would be St pete beach or Ft DeSoto. CWB takes a few mins longer as it isn't highway all the way.

What ever you decide you will have to make a day of it so leave earlier and go to Sanabel warm water ,sea shells ,and lovely sand.

I agree Clearwater is nice but for the time it takes North Reddington Beach has lovely sand and a great fishing pier.

I second Cocoa Beach. Plus is a wonderful place. We went there for a couple of days before taking our cruise a few years ago and had a wonderful time!

Melbourne has a lovely beach and it has a nice selection of shops, less than 2 hours down the 192.

My favourite beach is Siesta Key, sand like sugar.

I say Daytona Beach. the sand is so soft, just like velvet.
