Hi all -

Has anyone been to this new restaurant yet? It's supposed to have great live entertainment, martini lists, etc. We're coming in May, and have an aunt and uncle who are going to drive up from Venice to meet us for the day/early evening. Thought this might be a nice place to go for dinner.

Any comments? Good? Bad? Ugly? ;)

As always... your help is much appreciated!!!!

A HIDDEN GEM!!!

I am a busy executive that has the opportunity to dine at some of the very best restaurants in the U.S. and abroad. I can tell you that Jeffrey's Restaurant and Piano Bar shines in every respect.

When I first entered the dining room, I was immediately struck by the beautiful ambiance (nice muted earth tones, elegant lighting and a beatiful wine bar). A talented pianist played smooth jazz and light pop on a baby grand piano.

As I was seated at the bar, I was immediatley greeted by two of the bar staff that promptly introduced themselves and asked my name, and inquired as to what wines I enjoyed. When told of this, I was given several fine wines to sample. The wine list is extensive and very unique. Observing the way the staff interacted with guests says much about the high level of training and keen eye for talent the restaurant management obviously has.

After a while, we requested a table and were shown to a quiet spot at the rear of the restaurant. The wait staff was attentive, polished and polite to a fault. Our waiter had great knowledge of the menu, and was obviously proud of the abilities of the kitchen and chef.

We started with the Pacific Lump Crabcakeswith pann-seared fresh fruit salsa and a chili lime beurre blanc. The crabcakes were very meaty with huge pieces of lump crab nicely accented with the sweet and spicy attributes of the chili lime beurre blanc.

We next enjoyed our entrees of Bourguingnon Veal Cheeks (with Burgundy, Portobello mushroom risotto, pearl onions, bacon coxcomb, and blistered cherry tomatoes) and an 8 oz. Filet of Beef Tenderloin with fresh asparagus, carrots and garlic mashed potatoes.

The veal was spoon tender- flavorful and cooked to perfection. The melange of flavors-onions, delighfully thick and smoky bacon, the tangy risotto were incredible. The Filet of Beef was almost as tender- the thick and highly flavorful filet cooked to a perfect medium rare.

Desserts were a joy- you have to try the Tiramisu or the Creme Brulee-both outstanding. The crust on the creme brulee was masterfully thin and crisp. Accompany with a great espresso or cappucino.

If I sound like I am gushing about this restaurant- I am. If you are looking for a fabulous experience, try Jeffrey's. You will not be dissapointed.

Steve are you the owner of the resaurant? I find it hard to believe that your very first post is a detailed report on a little known restaurant.

No....i am not the owner nor am I affiliated with the owner or the restaurant. I was urged to try this restaurant from a friend. I write what I see as fair....for you to suggest otherwise is a bit of a cheap shot on your part.

My job enables me to dine at many nice establishments while entertaining clients. There are many great restaurants in Orlando such as Roy's, Vito's Chophouse, Christini''s etc. Add this one to that list as an excellent choice.

Here's the Orlando Newspaper's take on the same place:

The Critic did mention that he believed the staff "identified him" as a restaurant reviewer and that it may have affected his experience.
