Where to stay?

Not sure where to stay as far as location. Should I stay closer to the 500s on Ocean or Collins or up near 1500s. I'm going to basically hit the beach, shop and go to the clubs. Also would appreciate any hotel ideas for 200/night or less. Any ideas?

On Ocean Drive try:

WinterHaven

Cardozo

Beacon

Savoy (excellent)

To be closer to shopping on Lincoln Road, try:

The Albion

Loews Miami Beach

Royal Palm Crowne Plaza

Surfcomber

If you stay nearer the 1500s you have the benefit of being close to the shops on Lincoln road as well as the bars & restaurants on Ocean Drive, the best of which are between the 600s and the 1000s in my opinion. We stayed at the Kent, 1131 Collins, got a cheap flight & hotel combo on Expedia.

Just got back - we were there for 8 days (April 5-13). We stayed at the Clevelander (1020 Ocean). Great Party pool area with DJs and live bands every day. Stay on the "quiet side" - we couldn't hear a thing.

The rooms are very basic and on the small side - but if you are planning on staying in your hotel room for anything but sleep, you shouldn't be going to South Beach. Why waste $$ on a hotel.

We got a great rate because we booked in advance. But you can get a room for an avg of $135 - $150 maybe less.

It is right across from the beach, walking distance to all of the great resturaunts and clubs and a $5 cab ride to Lincoln Road (you have to eat at Nexxt Cafe on Lincoln Rd).

You might as well stay at the Clevelander, because you will end up there at least once every day - the pool bar area is always hopping! We started there for drinks and ended the night there for drinks every day - then you just stumble up to you room!

Enjoy!
