 Cruises to/in Bahamas

Hi!

I'm planning to visit Miami end June and to go to Bahamas afterwards. I've heard about nice cruises in that area. So, could anyone help me on these issues:

1. are there cruises from Miami to Bahamas? If so, which lines are best?

2. would it be better to fly to Bahamas and then to book a cruise there?

3. and by the way, where in Bahamas would you advise me to stay?

Thanks

Check out cruisecrtic.com to get new information on cruises written by passengers. Best bet is to research cruise deals in advance and book them from the Port of Miami before your trip. Visit Miami a few days and then take a cruise from here to there.

You sleep on the ship and it visits many islands before returning to Miami. This way, you only pay a round trip airline ticket from Portugal to Miami.

If you go to Google.com and enter "discount cruises" into the search field, you will get many websites that will offer last minute bargains on cruises. These companies sell the open rooms on cruise ships to fill up all the boats. You get a big savings on last minute purchases.

Check out a website called travelzoo.com for many last minute deals.

We like Royal Carribean. They have a cruise that is 4 days 3 nights and leaves out of Ft. Lauderdale. It goes to Nassau Bahama's and then to an island owned by the cruise line called Coco Cay. Then return to Ft. Lauderdale. I think there is also a 5 day that includes a stop in Key West.

While in Nassau you may want to visit the Atlantis Hotel. It has a casino and a really nice aquarium to visit, nice beaches. Take a stroll thru the straw market & then visit the shops. There are also tours of the island you can take. Coco Cay has a great beach where you can go on Banana Boat rides, snorkel, parasail and scuba dive. They have a bbq lunch and there are a few shops.

Carnival also has a similar cruise and may be cheaper. Royal Carribean ships are newer and nicer.

As Advisorgirl suggested check the cruise forums for more info. Check online or with a travel agent for deals on cruises.
