South beach, where to stay

We are going to Miami in March and we are trying to find a hotel to stay in. It will only be for four nights, and are looking to something around £150/night and not too far from the beach, bars, restaurants, etc.

Thanks for your help

Stay in Miami Beach, south of about 24 Street, and you'll be walking distance from most things (or a short ride on the 25c local bus). Here is my partial list (not in any order) of hotels that are moderately priced yet acceptable. March is high season so expect prices to be inflated, try to book early:

Penguin, Cadet, Winterhaven, Kent, La Flora, President, Dorchester, Albion, Townhouse, Essex House, Park Central, Avalon, Beacon, Villa Paradiso, Marlin, Blue Moon, St. Augustine, Catalina, Impala, South Seas, Courtyard by Marriott, Sherbrooke, South Beach Hotel, Congress, New Clinton, Richmond, Century, Bentley, Astor, Freehand, Waldorf, Casanova....

We stayed 3 nights at the Ritz Carlton and enjoyed it. If you like the beach then this property sits right ON the beach with direct access...complimentary chairs and towels but $25 rental/umbrella.

The pool is a good size overlooking the ocean but there were tons of children during our stay last week which we did not enjoy! There is no adult/quiet pool so it becomes a chaos with children throwing toys with their parents in the pool.

Our room was overlooking the pool and the ocean which was great but it gets noisy with the music and there were ants on the patio which I didn't care for. The room itself was great except the beds were a bit soft for our liking.

I have to say their turkey club house sandwich was first rate; the best we have had in a long time.

Hi there!

Although you will visit Miami during peak season (rates are more expensive), you will still be able to find something decent for a fair price. Normally, rates are 120-300 per night depending on what you're looking for.

Take a look at www.homeaway.com, www.airbnb.com or other online agencies like http://www.rent4days.com/miami-apartments

I wish you good luck!
