Fishing Tackle Rental

We will be coming down for Spring Break, and I was wondering if there are any bait shops or specialty shops that rent fishing gear to either go fishing in the River or Surf Fish?

Its been a long time since we lived here.

If so, are you familiar with daily fishing licenses for out of Staters?

Also, one last question, whats in Season and/or running the first part of April?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Newkie,

Here is the link to the online licenses for visitors and residents.http://myfwc.com

There is a new tackle shop towards Melbourne Beach (sorry don't know the name!). They are near the library just down from what used to be the 4-way stop which is now a traffic light. The places along US1 come & go. There was one in South Melbourne on US1 near the Hess station. Not sure if he is still there. Not sure if they kept Harry's open as both the Goode brothers have passed away.

As for what running, sorry have been out of the fishing loop but I would thing typical spring fare with blues, whiting, mackerel, a few pompano, cobia starting to show up offshore. River fishing will find the Reds, trout and snook. (make sure you get a set of rules and a tape measure as the rules seem to change by the day). So many things have a closed season now and when open the slot limit is pitiful. Check out the Florida Sportsmans website for more great fishing info and stop at the tackle shop on Hwy 192 across from target as the guys in their are all fisherman and hopefully will share some insider info once they know you are from here. Also Whiteys bait and tackle towards the inlet will be good for info and possibly rental equipment.

Hope this helps, hope you enjoy your return visit.

Here is the link for the tackle shop in Melbourne Beach:http://blackdogbait.com. Not sure if they do tackle rental tho. Also there is a brand new Bass Pro Shop in Palm Bay by Palm Bay Road and I-95.
