Travel from St. Pete's Beach to Lakeland

We will be staying in St. Pete's beach and would like it go to Lakeland to see the Tigers play. We are not planning on having a car. Are there any shuttles, etc that provide this service?

thanks

Nothing I know of. Renting a car will be the way to go. Pretty easy drive though. Cab would be very expensive. Greyhound bus or something like that would be slow, and you would still need to cab to/from their stations on both ends.

If you can get transportation to the Tampa airport, the shuttle used to run from the airport to Lakeland and hopefully still goes there. Here's the site:

I just checked and it looks like you can even catch the shuttle from PIE (Clearwater) to Lakeland.

as someone who lives here....it's a little over an hour's drive -- a cab would be blindingly expensive as noted.

Shuttles take forever and then some, because you will have to stop and pick up multiple other passengers, and drop all of them off at their requested destination. They will not pick you up and take you to Lakeland directly. Similarly, when you return you will have to agree to be picked up on their schedule. That 90-minute drive could very easily stretch into an entire day's undertaking.

There is no Greyhound service between St Pete and Lakeland, nor are their trains, trams, or any other sort of public transportation.

Your only option is to rent a car, unless you're prepared to drop the hundreds of dollars that a taxi would cost you.
