Traveling the keys Easter week with kids

Hi there!

My husband and I are flying from Philly to Miami, driving to Key West and Heading back to Miami.

We have Sat to following Monday.

What is the NOT MISS things to do, what keys are best to stay?

Thinking 2 nights KW, 4 nights middle of Keys, 3 nights Key Largo area.

Any info would be great.

Looking to : fish, beach, dolphin encounter, airboat everglades.

Thanks!

Check out the "Florida Keys" forum rather then just the Key West forum. In the right hand column (on both forums) are suggestions to some of your questions such as what are must sees in the Keys and Key West. Is it just your husband and you? Or with kids? Can make a bit of difference as to suggesting some places.

Two nights in Key West is only one full day. You can either see the sites in Key West - Hemingway House, Audubon House, shop a little, lunch and dinner, later night drinks. Or a water-related trip, either snorkeling or kayaking or a sunset or a combo of any two, then dinner. But will only one full day, not much else.

We are spending the same time in Key West with our 4 year old & 23 year old. Our plans (not set in stone, or even mud) for 4 year old is Fort Zach Beach, Acquarium, Butterfly Conservatory, Hemingway House (she loves kitties), & Mallory Square. Planning a day at Bahia Honda & middle keys also a dolphin watch excursion. Plans for 23 year old, keep her out of jail!!!

ordinarily I'd say that there's so much to see in Key West that you should extend your stay there.

But it looks like you might not be into the whole bars, restaurant, shopping, museum, etc thing that Key West has (that isn't really found outside of KW).

While Key West has great dolphin tours (I liked the one from Sunset Watersports) most of the fishing and Everglades stuff will mean you should head to Islamorada and Key Largo, respectively. There are snorkel trip out of almost every place along the whole stretch of the Keys, but it's a lot easier to get to the Everglades from Key Largo.
