Any help....

I and 3 of my girlfriends are doing a girl trip for my 60th birthday (how did I ever get to be this old) We are staying at the Sheraton which has a shuttle and we will also have a car. Am looking for info on things that we DON'T want to miss. We will be arriving late on Dec. 6 and be there through Dec. 9. Restaurants ( we all love seafood), bars, (we all like to drink), art galleries, any other attractions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

For cultural, see what is going on at the Key West Art & Historical Society. Look for the big, red brick building at the very end of Whitehead Street...

Not too far from you is the Key West Garden Club at the West Martello Tower...

There is a certain amount of free parking on the street there.

Right now my favorite restaurant in Key West is Columbian Grace on Petronia Street, especially for her seafood specials. And there is a sign in front that says "Best Sangria in Key West" and as far as I am concerned, right on! Check the happy hour specials.

And to mention one bar, the Schooner Wharf Bar at the Key West bight for drinks and oysters during happy hour, live music, and Frank the Magician at the Macic Bar in the back starting at 9:00 p.m....

And a place you'll probably not wander into on your own is the Chart Room Bar at the Pier House, 1 Duval Street.

Caroline's Cafe (lunch)

Grunts (lobster Mac n cheese a must)

Half Shell Raw Bar

Mangia Mangia (probably spelled wrong)

A and B Lobster House

Jimmy Buffets (generic but good and you can say you had the cheeseburger in paradise)

Thai Island

Better Than Sex (deserts only)

Sloppy Joe's (ask for Bev, best bartender on the isle)

Caroline's Cafe

Rum Barrel

Tattoos and Scars

Irish Kevin's

Smokin Tuna

Half Shell Raw Bar

Turtle Krawls

Stuff to do:

Hemingway House (don't miss it)

Butterfly Conservitory

Shipwreck Museum

Mel Fisher Museum

USCG Cutter Ingham museum

Southernmost Point

Conch Train Tour (suggest this first to get a general idea)

Drag show (don't remember name of place but it's kitty corner from Bourbon House)

Key West Winery

Dry Tortugas tour (very pricey IMO)

Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square (a must at least once)

Fort Zachary Taylor Park

Truman's Little White House (a must)

Key West Cemetary

There's tons more restaurants, bars, and stuff to do. This isn't even a partial list but it's a place to start.

I always like to suggest a trolley or train tour at the begining of the vacation. This is an easy way for all of you to see and hear what the town has to offer, then all of your group can decide. Old Town Trolley has a ride the second day free, so maybe you can plan around that!

There are a couple holiday events going on during your dates - the parade is on Saturday night and holiday inn tour is Friday night.

The Wyland Gallery is my favorite art gallery.

The Smallest Bar (great novelty, get the hollowed out pineapple drink , very potent!)

Flying Monkey (the best frozen drinks on the island Period)

The Rum Bar at the Speakeasy Inn (obviously order a rum runner)

Capt. Tony's (pirate punch)

Sunset Pier (find Al the bartender , ask him his suggestion and go with it)

Grand Vin (cool wine bar with fantastic peeps)

Southernmost Beach cafe (great views and good mojitos)

Cork and Stogie (nice wine selection and nice daily specials)

Bistro 245 (at the Westin , nice views good drinks)

RoofTop Cafe (get a mango martini , trust me!!!)

Restaraunts that I would recommend for seafood

Garbo's grill (food cart with the best fish tacos I have ever eaten)

Alonzo's (oysters and stone crab)

A&B Lobster House (if they have their hogfish special get it)

BO's (hogfish sandwich)

7 Fish (name says it all)

Latitudes (lobster and crab cakes and their conch ceviche is amazing)

Conch Republic Seafood Company (I usually just get the bar food here , so try the royal reds ( a type of shrimp that takes on the taste of lobster ) they are not on the menu so ask if they have'em and try the cracked conch it's flash fried and delicious)

Hope this helps a bit, HAVE FUN!!!
