Favorite Musicians/entertainers

Last time in Key West we had alot of fun at the Bull and Whistle listening to a crazy lady play her guitar as she roamed around the bar, climbing on top of the bar, following people into the restroom, and generally interacting with the crowd in a hilarious way. When we return in March we would love to know whom to look for and try to catch. What are some of your favorite acts in Key West?

Checkout NY Paulie at Irish Kevin's , great crowd interaction , rude , crude and absolutely hilarious. There's this street performer who resembles Jimi Hendrix , his name is Anyetta Arrington and a very cool guy. If you see him hook him up with a couple bucks and have him play , he will blow you away!!!!

Was the entertainer at Bull & Whistle, the woman with long blonde hair? Does anyone know her name? We thought she was a riot, when we went....

Sounds like you'd enjoy the Pete & Wayne show at Sloppy Joes. Also, Pat Dailey is pretty entertaining and will be at Sloppy's in from Feb 1 until March 2nd, good show if you can catch him. "You don't have to get drunk to be an a$$hole...." For some just plain good music, check out 'That Hippie Band' Monday nights at Cowboy Bills, excellent 60's and 70's music. Other than that, hang at Smokin' Tuna, Green Parrot and Hogs Breath, they usually have good bands.

They play at El Meson de Pepe and you can sit outside and listen and sip mojitros. The number and gender of the people who show up and play seems to vary eveery night, but the Cuban drummer is a hoot. If you like them there are a few CDs for sale inside.

The entertainer at The Bull is Sallie. We like all the places that Sharla mentioned. Noticed this week that Matt Effed up Avery is back and playing at Irish Kevins, It appears though that he no longer is drinking (at least the night we were there), so he sounded pretty good. Highly recommend the Hippie Band at Cowboy Bills.

1. Caffeine Carl Wagoner. Best guitar player I've ever seen.

2. Raven Cooper at Schooner Wharf Bar on Mondays noon--5 and Tuesdays 7-11 p.m.

3. Magic Frank at SWB evenings starting about 9:00. I think he is usually off on Mondays and Tuesdays.

4. Nick Norman, especially if he is with his full band.

6toejam.com is a great website to find out who is playing where.

Have you ever gone to the sunset pier to watch various artists play? Chances are that they will be accompanied by the same guitar player, Fritz. He used to play solo at various places and with a small group, but now just does accompanying. He says it's easier. Anyway, he's is great and can change his style to fit the singer or the people he is playing with. Check him out sometime. Listen to his occassional solo.

Schooners Wharf, the rooftop of the Rum Barrel, Smokin' Tuna and The Green Parrot are our favorite venues.

I think music is really a personal preference, but if Suenelo or The Red Elvises are at The Green Parrot, you will probably see me there.

Like Pjk, I also enjoy the music and dancing the happens at El Meson de Pepe. Just remember they add a gratuity at the bar automatically. Something the bartenders seem to conveniently forget to tell you.

Thanks everyone, the lady at Bull and Whistle did have long blonde hair. We always tend to start at SWB so we are frequently on Duval by the time the band starts. We will try to reverse course this year.
