We just returned from an 18 day diving trip to the Mayan Riviera and Cozumel and my boyfriend fell in love with the whole fried snappers that are so common there.
I don't recall seeing that on our last trip to KW, does anyone know a restaurant that serves up whole FRIED fish???

Are you going to be in the Keys outside of KW? There are a couple of places in the middle Keys. And, I love whole fried snapper too!

it's a pretty common dish. Most anyplace that has a deep fryer can do it, though some of the better places will pan fry it.
Usually a whole fried yellowtail snapper.
Just a quick browse through The Menu magazine shows snapper on almost all of the seafood sections on the menus, but it is mostly a filet, often sauteed. Colombian Grace specializes in that.
I'd want it as fresh as possible.
Hogfish Bar and Grill had one on Wednesdays that looked great.

Just planning on being lounge lizards for 9 days and hope to find some crispy fried whole fish. Actually in Cozumel we had hogfish and grouper that was fried whole too. Yum! Thanks everyone for the tips
915 would get my vote as well. If you want to try other fresh preparations, try 7 fish, or Blackfin Bistro.
Thanks for all the suggestions. To date the best we have ever had was at Chamico's Beach near Tulum. The guy there cooks over an open wood fire in this huge cast iron pan. The fish come out so crispy you can eat everything and the meat stays moist and juicy. Hope we can find something similar in KW.
