Snorkeling Tours

Which tour is the best? We'll be arriving in a little over a week and would like to know which one you liked and why.

If by "tour" you just mean a plain old snorkeling trip (it lasts about 4 hours), try Floridays...they dock at the Hyatt on Front Street. Floridays is a sailboat that limits passengers to 20/30. In my opinion, it's much preferable to the catamarans, that pack people in like cattle cars.

Three favorites......

1. Any of the big catamarans, but for the combo snorkle/sunset sail. They charge the same as the snorkle-only or sunset-only and so are a better deal, and last a little longer. And IMO all of them, The Fury, the three Sebagos, and the Sunny Days do an equally good job. And the cats are easier to get into and out of the water. (I don't tend to go on the single-hull ships much anymore, except for one, but not that they do any better or worser of a job)

2. The Floridays because of its size - smaller. You get a real sense of sailing. If you go, sit on the little seats in the very stern of the ship on the way out and wave to the people at the hotels as you go past.

3. The Stars & Stripes all-day trip. (approx. 9:30 - 3:30). Small breakfast and lunch, two snorkling stops, and Capt'n Don will try to find dolphins on the way in. If you go, he sometimes has dinner at Turtle Kraals and you might have a chat with him.

4. Danger Charters. More expensive than just snorkling, but it is also a kayak trip through the mangroves. Nice, longer trip.

How many was that?

Pjk (six weeks till the first '05 vacation)
