First trip to AMI...Are the beaches crowded in July ?

We have a family vacation scheduled for July 12-19. Staying at a Holmes Beach rental house. We are so excited! Just wondering about crowds, traffic, weather etc. Help! lol

It will not be crowded during the week. Weekends will have some increase and of course July 4th will be crazy. There is always some mild backup getting onto the island on weekend mornings. Enjoy our beautiful beaches!

I should add that summer weather here is quite predictable. Sunny all day and then a good chance of late afternoon storms lasting 30-60 minutes. Of course a rare tropical storm would change things, but that would be well forecasted.

My husband and I are headed down the week of the Fourth of July. How crazy is it? Just a lot of crowds? We're excited!

July is busy, but not crazy so. You will not be within reach of the next family on the beach. Think a single line, maybe two, on a really wide beach. Away from the public beaches (at about 34th St. to 38th or so) there will be only a few people on a given day. Weekends there are more as locals go out. Try to not be heading from town to the island between 10 and noon, and not heading back to town about 3-5, and you will be fine. If you are close enough to walk to the beach you will be fine.

July is a great month to come down. A bit hot, but that is to be expected here in FL. You are just missing the 4th of July, so the crowds should be a bit died down from the holiday. If you are planning to rent any beach items or anything like that, I do suggest getting rentals in a couple months in advance. Otherwise, traffic is not too bad most of the snowbirds are gone by April, so the majority of the traffic would be from locals or vacationers. As long as you plan ahead, you shouldn't have any worry about making it around the island!

If you want more of a deserted beach atmosphere, I suggest heading toward the north end of the island around The Sandbar Restaurant and Bean Point. Be sure you follow the parking signs though because you will be ticketed if you park in a non parking zone.

Also, a boat rental and heading to Egmont Key during the week is best for an idyllic experience. Avoid the weekends, as boat traffic gets busy.
