I lived at Windmeadows as a student around 1980. At that time, it was the premier student apartment complex in town. Haven't been inside in many years, but I still drive by it occasionally and it appears to be clean and well-maintained. It is fairly close to the university, but not really within walking distance. You could bike, although that SW 34th St - SW Archer Rd area is not very bike-friendly (6-lane roads, 45 mph speed limit, heavy traffic). There is a bus route that runs along Windmeadows Blvd - probably your best bet for getting to and from campus.
