Never been to Ft M. Spending 4 days total. What must see things to do? Forum doesn't say much about beaches. What would a day at the beach be like? Cold? Clean? Landmarks? Museums? Disney? Cape Canaver? (Have free lodging in ft myers.). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
It depends on the weather but a day at the beach would be very nice, You can drive to the Time Sq. area where you will fine the FM Pier and many restaurants and gifts shops and water sports and day cruises. If you have the time there is a ferry from FMB to Key West and you can stay over at KW for a night. You can also drive over to Sanibel and Captiva for a day of shelling. There is a public beach and parking lot near the light house. As far as FM it self you can visit the Edison House, shopat the clock tower. If you want to go further you can drive to Naples and visit the Naples zoo and take a bus tour of Tin City.
Hit the Beach. Head down early before traffic by 9. Breakfast at Gulfshore, Reeses or Heavenly Biscuit, Can not park at those places all day. Can pay to park at places up and down the Beach. Strolling around Time Square and down to the Back Bay offer many Restaurant, Bars and Shops/Boutiques. Lots of places to stop and sit a spell, People watch. Walk to the end of the Pier and see the Fishing. Head South down 41 to the Everglades for a day trip, many things to see. Many Birds, Gators sunning, Old fashioned rest stops with concrete tables/benches,Worlds smallest Post Office in Ochopee, Wildlife exhibits and just farther South is Shark Valley, a very cool bike/hike or tram ride into the Everglades with a 45' tower to get a 360 view.
