I am considering a Dec 15 trip to Telluride. Is it best to fly into Montrose or Telluride? Also, I'm considering the Hotel Telluride vs Hotel Columbia. Any input on these or some alternatives? What are some reccommended shops to get skis tuned?

Montrose is an easy 1hr15min ride from Telluride. Check out TellurideExpress for shuttles. If you want to stop at the grocery store/liquor store you will have more options if you do that in Montrose too. The shuttles will stop for you. Also Montrose is a bigger airport and the weather may be better in Montrose. Have you seen the Telluride airport? Check out youtube for some amazing videos of landing a plane there.

I have hear good things about Paragon Sports.

You're gonna run into potential problems flying into Telluride, its frequently closed by weather problems. Montrose is a much safer bet, and a pretty (and pretty easy) drive to Telluride.

Make sure to eat at Bluepoint Grill.
