We spent a week in September at the Windham resorts. The accomadations were very good. Our patio backed up to the golf course.
Our favorite outing was to the Pagosa Brewery. We aren't beer enthusiasts, but enjoyed the friendly people and the varieties of brews they had available. The owner, Tony gave us a tour. We learned a lot about brewing and his enthusiasm was contagious. We ended up going back many times. Many locals hang out there, so it was good to get a locals perspective on where to go for activities and what restaurants were best. Karen, the bartender, and her husband John spent a lot of time talking about common experiences over the years.
The Springs were great! Another chance to talk with people from around the country as we relaxed in the pools. We've been to spas in Germany (Baden Baden), and enjoyed the relaxation and cleanliness of the Pagosa Springs. Next time we'll get a weekly pass.
We also took the train ride in Durango. There was a shuttle from the resort, so we didn't have to drive. The trip was interesting, but a little long. Silverton was like about any mining town in Colorado. There were the usual souvgnier shops lining the streets.
We love Mexican food and enjoyed the no frills cantina down the street from the brewery, Chavolos. It was in a little strip mall. Duonigi's was fairly good for Italian, but a little over priced.
We've decided to make this a regular trip every year. We enjoyed spending time just laying back and enjoying the area.
