Will it be too cold for rafting in late May?

Wanted to check 'whitewater rafting' off our bucket list - but not too gung ho on the idea of getting wet with ice cold water. Any suggestions on a fairly tame trip where we won't be soaked to the bones? thanks.................... :0)

You could get wet suits!

What area of the state are you planning to visit?

Here are a few samples of some of the milder trips. There are likely to be several outfitters...I've just picked some of the representative examples.

The water will be cold, but check with local rafting companies like Mild to Wild, Durango Rafting etc. they will have short and fun trips. Www.durango.org

Well of course! I didn't even notice that you had posted on the Durango forum. Duh. ;) Then you will want to look at one of the Lower Animas trips. You might check with the various companies about costs, what they include, whether or not you'll need a wetsuit at the time of your visit, and which trip would be best for you.

There are several outfitters, most very well reviewed. tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g33397-Activitie…

Dont worry about being cold, the wet suit will work well for you. No matter when you go the water you are in was snow only hours before so its always a bit cool.
