Best area to go snowshowing?

Will be in Durango early January and wanted to know where the best places were to go snowshoeing. Durango Mountain Resort perhaps or another place?

Thanks!

We've gone snowshoeing around there- up La Plata canyon & along the Falls Ck trail were 2 locations that come to mind.

My favorite places to snowshoe around Durango are:

1. La Plata Canyon (mentioned above)

2. Lime Creek Rd (first access is just pass Purgatory, second access is between Coal Bank and Molas Passes - the second access is a further drive but has even prettier views).

3. If the snow has actually reached it in high enough quantities, Mesa Verde has some lovely scenic and fairly level snowshoe spots up on the mesa.

4. Animas City Mountain (a bit steep in spots but access can't be beat - you can find the trail right in town off of west 32nd street!)

5. The summit of Red Mountain Pass has amazing snowshoeing, but is a bit of a drive.

Does anyone know how I can edit the title to a thread? It's supposed to read 'snowshoeing' not 'snowshowing'... :/
