Winter in Colorado Springs

We are planning a honeymoon and we keep coming back to this area. We keep getting hung up on what there is to do in the middle of winter, say Jan. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

An anxious bride

Lots to do!

If you're staying at the Broadmoor, they have stables and i think they offer horse back rides during the winter through the woods.

There are several cog railway trips scheduled in January that takes you to the top of Pike's Peak(14,000 ft mountain).I've always thought it was fun,and the views at the top are stunning!

Garden of the Gods is a great place to go.It is sooo pretty, great for photographs, nature walks ect.

Seven Falls is a beautiful spot in Cheyenne Canyon. At night the falls light up and it's really pretty. Cheyenne Canyon has lots of trails for hiking and lots of picnic tables along the river. My husband and i love to take a thermos of hot chocolate and some cookies and sit by the river in the morning.Lots of deer and wildlife to see.

The Air Force Academy is a beautiful spot with lots of history.Touring the campus can take half a day,and you should check ahead of time if the campus will close(they sometimes close it to the public) The Olympic Training Center is a fun place to go and see where all the atheletes train, alot of the time you can watch them,it's pretty neet.

The good thing about Colorado Springs is that there are so many great places nearby that make fun day-trips.

-Cripple Creek(50 mins away)is a fun old time gambling town with fun casinos, restaurants and shops. There's alot of history there!

-Canon City(45 mins away)is south of the Springs. The Royal Gorge Bridge is there, which is the highest suspension bridge in the world. You can walk across it,there's a tramway that goes across it in the air,an incline train that takes you to the bottom by the river ect. Also,Canon City has the Royal Gorge train which takes you from Canon City through the Gorge, you can do lunch/dinner trains that are really great.

-Denver(1 hr away) obviously Denver has TONS of stuff to do for the day.Lots and lots of shopping downtown and in Cherry Creek.16th St. Mall is a fun place,in the winter they do cariage rides.

-Breckenridge(2 hrs away) a beautiful drive and a great little ski town. You don't have to ski to enjoy the town. There is snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sleddinge ect. Also lots of yummy restaurants and good shops.

Trust me you'll have more than enough to do!
