October 19-26 with family...Things to do?

We've decided to deviate from typical places we vacation in the fall to try Breck.

Married with 3 kids (11, 11 & 13)...Does anyone have suggestions of things to do? I've checked the event calendar and it's somewhat sparse and reading that this is the slow time. We're an active family and plan to do some hiking as snow is not in the forecast. :(

Any help is appreciated!!!!

Thank you

There is no forecast that can tell you that. It's difficult to predict if it will snow 5 days from now, next to impossible to predict if it will snow more than 2 weeks from now. I'd be willing to bet that there will be snow by that time.

Maybe a trip over to A-Basin for some skiing? I am betting they will be open.

The Minnie Mine trail off of French Gulch get lots of sun I hike there in "mud ' season. The Peaks trail gets enough traffic to keep it packed down if we get snow.

Unless we get a big dump you should be able to get some hiking in. If you have poles that would help with stability.

A day trip over to Glenwood Springs is fun.

Alli, thanks for the information. How far is Glenwood Springs from Breck?

A couple more things I thought of. Rent bikes and explore the Summit County Rec Path. In the summer, the ski shops will shuttle you to the top of Vail Pass and and you have a 20 mile, downhill ride to back to Frisco. Also, we did Boreas Pass Road this year. It is a nice drive that takes you down into Park County and there are some hiking trails along the way. It probably is spectacular when the Aspens are changing, but you may be late for that. The road itself is gravel, so I wouldn't attempt it if there is any hint of snow.

If day trip- check out Buena Vista. Hot springs (mt. Princeton or Cotttonwood) and then head over to St. Elmo ghost town.

Breckenridge Recreation Center if looking for active stuff but an indoor day.
