New Years Eve

Hi all,

I'm back again picking your brains for our Xmas/N.Y trip to Breck. As we have the then almost 2 year old with us we are trying to decide what to do New years Eve now we are no longer adults only. What time is the torch "parade" and whereabouts which I have seen mentioned on forums??we are by maggies pond.We are thinking of having an early'ish meal out..any suggestions welcomed or having nice food delivered in..again any suggestions. In the past on our winter hol we have been up late at fireworks/casino/meal etc but need to re-think and of course have never been to Breck before.

All input appreciated.15 weeks and counting!!xx

Torch parade...you might want to google it but for some reason my brain is thinking 9pm for the fireworks, torch light parade around 6pm.

Meals- earlier the better as things will probably get a little crowded.

If you are by Maggie Pond- you can walk to most things but

Mi Casa- Mexican is close by.

Quandary's is in Main Street Station area which is probably the closest to you.

In fact, depending on when your 2 yr old goes to bed or needs to start winding down...you might just want to order something to go, one of you walk over and grab it (guessing 2-4 minute walk at most if you are around Maggie) and have a nice night in. I like the fish tacos at Quandary's. Pretty good nachos as well.

Most restaurants will probably be fairly full, decent wait, little loud...I have a little one myself and it just became easier to order, pick-up and bring back rather than sensory overload for her. Keep her on a nice sleep schedule which keeps us/the parents on a nice sleep schedule.

For a list of a calendar of events, more will be filled in as it gets closer, check out www.gobreck.com find the calendar of events tab.

If you have a day off and looking for something to do with the 2 yr old, head over to the Breck Rec Center. I believe on Wed & Fri from 9am-noonish they set-up stuff for kids to play with in the gym. Cost is $6 to get in (for the kid, you are free as you will be watching him/her play).

If delivered, you can choose from a few restaurants that use Gourmet Cabby to deliver, http://www.gourmet-cabby.com/

Hi Matt,

Thats great info ....me and the other nan going dont really do the sporty stuff just the odd sled etc so will defo take the grandaughter to the rec Center.Think eating in will be our best option for NY...we are there 10 nights so will have plenty of opportunities to eat out..gourmet cabby defo an option at some point too if she or us want a chill night.

Thanks so much

How about new years eve in Breck for adults? Anything special? Other mountain resorts? Where is the best celebration?

All the resorts do something...I would choose Breck as it will probably be the most lively being a ski town and all.

Make reservations that night,

Jim R. Just a note to say if you have not made your lodging plans for New Years you should get going. Lots of places are already booked. Once you know where you are staying make dinner reservations. Trust me you don't want to wait too long to do both!

Hi I am doing the same thing. Been to Brek plenty but, now with a 9 yr. Old daughter looking to do more of the fun party kid friendly things. I am real familiar with area and this is what we have found and will take in as we do nothing without our daughter. During the early part of day we will go to the FREE sledding area that is great. About 4 blocks South of the main street in Brek. near the elementary school. Ask and you will be guided there. Then we will have lunch at Eric's down under. The best price and awesome food and selection in town! On the main street.

At 5:00 we will get situated at a nice restaurant/ place that serves cocktails with a mountain view to watch the Torch ski down. then at 9:00 watch the fireworks as well. From there we will go walk the street shops and call it a night when all activities are done. On New Years Day we will take our daughter on the Two Below Zero Dinner Sleigh Ride. Rated the best by many. Travel channel, etc.. At Copper Mountain there is Great Snow Tubing if you want to take your child. It's safe and there is a escalator that pulls you up the hill to tube down. This is a great time. must make a reservation though. We go every year and enjoy it a ton. you can place your child in a tube. They will have a blast! Good luck and have a Happy New Year and tons of beautiful Colorado fun!

Where is a good restaurant to watch the torch parade, fireworks and drink? We are from Oz and have never spent NY eve in Breck. Looking for a party place where we and our kids 11 and 8 can have a good time.
