Don't know if you can get SIMs there or not, but you surely could pick up a prepaid phone. Prepaid SIMs are less common than actual prepaid phones in big box stores. Note that coverage on prepaid SIMs and phones will not necessarily be the same as normal subscriber coverage. Coverage is generally pretty good in the area but there are dark spots on the mountain. I use Sprint there and it's fine.
