Any new Hot restaurants

Need Xmas present for brother and his wife and would love to get them a gift cert to a new restaurants. They are bay area transplants that like good yet funky places. They have been to the tried and true: Vintage Press, Depo, Cafe 225. Last time I was in town there was a funky looking place on the side street of the old Fox Theater.

I don't know if you have ever tried fugazzis restaurant but it is the absolute best in Visalia. It has been voted #1 restaurant for the past 5 or so years. Great atmosphere, great service, and amazing food-you feel like you are in San Fran.

The restaurant on the side street is Tommy's ( http://www.tommysdowntown.com/).

Also newer restaurants in the Main Street area are Akamaru (Japanese)and Rio Churrasco (Brazilian). There is a wine bar - The Cellar Door but serve only appetizers and dessert (http://www.cellardoorvisalia.com/).

Across from the "tried and true" Depot (not my favorite) is Jack & Charlie's, owned by the Vartanian family who also own the Vintage Press (http://thevintagepress.com/).

Another person posting recommended Fugazzi's as being like a San Francisco restaurant. I wouldn't describe it that way. http://www.fugazzisbistro.com/dinner.htm
