Central Valley with two large families

Hello,

Our family of 6 lives in Southern CA and our friends'family of 7 lives in Northern CA we would like to meet for a few days for mini vacation in Central CA. We love Hanford, but are open to other areas. We are looking for a motel/hotel/? that will allow 6/7 per room/suite or has connecting rooms. We also want a pool for the kids to play in. We would also love for it to be pet friendly, but that may be asking too much.

Anyone have any suggestion. We don't mind low budget as long as it is clean! Also, the kids don't mind rollaways, either.

Thanks!

Teresa

We stayed at the Harris Ranch off I 5 and we were very surprised at how once we were in the pool area it was quite like an oasis and did not feel at all like we were in the middle of nowhere.

We liked the rooms that had a glass door that opened right onto the pool area.

Well a few places for you to look into.

In Visalia, near the intersection of Highways 99 and 198 are 2 hotels. Adjacent is Plaza Park, a large city park that includes a leash-free dog area and also a golf course.

The 2 hotels there are the Holiday Inn (2 pools, indoor and outdoor) and a Comfort Inn (do not confuse it with the Comfort Suites in downtown).

The La Quinta in Visalia has a pool. It also sits next door to 7 acre Adventure Park with mini golf, an arcade, etc.

You might also look at some of the hotels in Three Rivers. A quieter area but it puts you in the foothills.

what about venturing up into the mountains? We really like Shaver lake area. Its cool, beautiful and lots of activities. You could rent 2 cabins and enjoy the lake. You can rent pontoon boats by the day or set up camp on the shore. Average temps in the summer beat the valley! There's also horseback riding and hiking. Its an hour from Fresno.

Yes, Shaver Lake is very nice, if you go a little further there is Huntington Lake, we have a condo there where we like to go to escape the heat and snowboard in the winter. The temps will be cooler at Huntington Lake. :)
