Transportation from Oakland Airport to Sonoma |
|
I need to know the cheapest way to get from Oakland airport to Sonoma. Thanks! |
|
Hmmm... I don't know of any public transportation between the two. And, for someone who can help, pleasse say whethere you mean the city of Sonoma or Sonoma County in general.

Puter - Any help that you can give would be great...Really it would be great to get somewhere into Sonoma. Then I can have someone pick me up from there. Really, I am just trying to avoid having to have someone come pick me up from somewhere farther away (i.e. the airport). So as close I can get to, let's just say, Sonoma plaza would be helpful. Thanks again.

OK, I will tell you what I know. The San Francisco airport has an "airporter" a bus which goes to Petaluma and Santa Rosa, which are 14 and 20 miles, respectively, from the Sonoma Plaza. I don't know whether the Oakland airport does. Perhaps you could call them. The "stretchy" way to solve this would be to take BART from the Oakland airport to the San Francisco airport and pick up the airporter. Another possibility would be to take BART to San Francisco and a Greyhound bus to either Petaluma or Santa Rosa, assuming you could find an ok schedule. As far as I know, Greyhound no longer runs to Sonoma, but I could be wrong...check this out. (The old Sebastiani Greyhound Bus Depot is now a boutique.) I guess you could try a Greyhound bus from Oakland to the above cities, but trying to find a Greyhound depot in Oakland would be a disaster. Erase, erase. Unless someone else comes in here, my advice would be.. 1) Call the Oakland airport and ask if they have an airport bus to Sonoma, Petaluma or Santa Rosa. 2) Do the BART from OAK to SFO and take the Sonoma County airporter to whichever city is easiest for your friends to pick you up. And good luck. If you find a solution, please post back and let me know, OK?

(sorry about the double post....<blush>....it didn't seem to 'take' on the first 'submit'.

Wish I knew if any of the Sonoma Valley lodgings had a shuttle service. Best I can suggest is the Sonoma County Airporter from Oakland (airportexpressinc.com/schedule_oak_soco.html) that will get you into either San Rafael, Petaluma, Rohnert Park or Santa Rosa. You can then explore the Sonoma County Transit system (www.sctransit.com/routes.htm) to get you into Sonoma.

Oh good. There is an airporter from the Oakland airport. I gather that someone will pick up Traveler0306 from his/her original post, therefore I would suggest asking them whether Petaluma or Santa Rosa would be the most convenient for them. I am glad you were paying attention, Forestvillian. ;o)
