Great location, lousy Manager

This is a great place to get away and have some impressive ocean views. But beware, the manager is something else! Be prepared to be told to go somewhere else if you even slightly complain about what was told to you regarding specific cabins. We had this miserable experience this past weekend. The cabins were explained to be one thing with one not being what it was explained. After having the cabins reserved for over a month and traveling 8 hours, we did not want or expect to be told to find another place if we were not happy. Pros: this is a really neat little resort. Cons: Classless managment.

Name of place?

Your experiences seem a bit tame for this part of California. We've had some amazingly great times (we enjoyed Ship A Shore Resort new wing in Crescent City - old wing has some problems); as well as two experiences which we seem to share with our friends from time to time:

1) We had ivy growing out of the ivy at one place...not just in the shower floor but also out of the bed mattress. The owner thought it was normal.

2) We also had one place where we arrived with firm reservations and the owner met us with gun cocked...and the owner's wife hiding behind the curtains. We quickly backed away with the owner loudly complaining about the City Slickers.

Your experience seems to be average....but we are curious about the name to know if you did have the misfortune to find these 2 places like we did in that area.

I'd ignore the other comment on the post....They probably have not been to the area (My relatives lived in Crescent City for many many years....so you're not an unhappy person...you just seemed to have found some of the unique differences of visiting Northern California.

I still have relatives near Arcata, and I have to say that your experiences, mini, are extremely weird even for that part of CA :~/

It's too bad, unhappyglenn, that you felt you needed to join TA just to make a complaint about some "unnamed lodging".

Perhaps you might utilize this forum in the future so that contributors could help you to plan a more enjoyable vacation, and thus become "happyglenn"!

half- Brit: Agree with you! Its just wierd that both of these happened in that area of Northern California. One night we even ended up sleeping at a closed campground...along with some others. Makes for good "drinking stories" but I agree, this is a spectacularly beautiful part of Calfiornia and one to visit!...

I doubt you'll be getting a response from unhappyglenn, discerningtraveler. It seems that many times when people have a bad travel experience, they join TA to publicly grouse about it . . . then they vanish!
