walking across the bridge

We would like to take the Number 10 bus from Sausalito to the Southern side of the bridge and then walk across the bridge, continuing on to Sausalito. When I look up the bus timetable it doesn't actually say that it stops at the end of the bridge. It says "Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza- YES". Does that mean that it drops you at the end of the bridge or do you have to stay on until you reach the city and then walk back to the bridge?

All Golden Gate Transit buses stop at the Toll Plaza in both directions. On the schedule, however, none of the southbound trips have a published time because arrivals at the Toll Plaza are traffic dependent. There is no room for buses to sit at the stop, so the schedule just says "yes" to indicate the bus stops there.

A couple tips:

1. Schedules change quarterly. The next schedule change occurs September 13. Because of some service issues, the northbound schedule had to be modified recently. In other words, the current schedule is available online ONLY; the printed transit guide does not have the current northbound schedule.

2. In addition to Route 10, you can also take Routes 2 and 92 and select trips on Route 4. They all have the same route between the Toll Plaza and Sausalito.

On your way back, you can catch the bus at the stop just north of the Vista Point, on the off-ramp for Alexander Avenue. Keep this in mind if you decide you don't want to walk all the way back to Sausalito.

Final note: You will cross a fare zone boundary on your way to the Toll Plaza, so the adult fare will be $3.95. You won't cross the boundary if you catch the bus on Alexander Avenue on the way back, so the fare will be $2.00.
