Pismo Beach RVing

We plan on visiting Pismo Beach around the thanksgiving holiday, we will be bringing our two small dogs that both weigh no more then 10 lbs each. we are seeking pet friendly RV campground area. Also any suggestions to which one to rent a RV inside an RV park or campground? We had heard that you can't bring your RV and park on the beach anymore is this true? Any suggestions or recommendations?

You can camp on the beach in Pismo, in the vehicle recreation area.

Its can be soft sand, unless you drive the tide line and at times Arroyo Grande Creek can be a deep crossing. Look on You Tube for videos of that.

Yes, you can still camp "on" the beach. Here's the reservation link:

Your other choices are Northbeach Campground (No hook-ups) or Pismo Coast Village

If you don't want to drive the beach, another nice option is to hike Oso Flaco from the inland side. Very nice boardwalk over the lake to the dunes.

Strictly speaking, you can't drive on the beach within the Pismo Beach city limits. And I don't think you are allowed to camp overnight in that area (outside of the RV park or state campground), although I have occasionally seen people do it.

The beach that is open to driving and camping is in the Oceano Dunes area, roughly 2 - 3 miles south of Pismo Beach per se.

Back in Pismo Beach proper, Pismo Coast Village is a nice-looking RV park on the beach side of Highway 1.
