3 day "overview" for late october?

we are in southern california for some weeks in oct/nov and have a 3/4 day "slot" in late october between other commitments. we thought paso robles would be a nice change from la jolla and santa barbara. sadly, this is just after the harvest - will that make things less interesting? we plan on a golf round plus a few winery/vineyard visits. we don't see many wines from this area in switzerland, but we do like many california reds - except perhaps zinfandel, which we have only drunk with turkey. is a wine tour advisable? also, any hotel/b&b suggestions?

I've never stayed there but there are several B&B options located at wineries near by including Summerwood, Opolo, & Wild Coyote. They look like nice places. There are also some B&Bs that are not winery affiliated and some hotels in town. The PR area is know for Syrah, Zinfandel, & Rhone blends. and there are many great wineries to choose from. If you click on the link below it take you to a printable map which shows many the local wineries. There are some tour options available and you can find them by clicking on the things to do tab at the upper left. Hope this helps.

We always stay at LaBellasera - as a matter of fact, we are heading there next week for the harvest festival! Sculpterra, Tablas Creek, Justin, J.Lohr, Niner and 4 Vines are some of our favorites for fuller red wines!

Our party of six just returned from a long weekend in Paso. We were fortunate to stay at a winery through VRBO, but have previously stayed at the "Black Oak" Best Western. LOTS of things to see and do, including a couple of good golf courses. We really enjoyed visits to the Castoro Cellars, Robert Hall and Adelaida wineries - though there are many others to choose from. The Pinot's (and walnuts) at Adelaida are special. Lunch at Thomas Hill Organics was great - we're only sorry that we were unable to fit a dinner reservation in to our schedule.

Several wineries have B & B's associated with them, so check out the Tripadvisor reviews. Visiting "post-harvest" should be a great time. If your schedule permits I suggest you make a side trip up to Hahn winery in Soledad. Also, the trip up Hwy 1 from Cambria to Monterey shouldn't be missed. Stop and look at the sea lions just north of San Simeon!

La Bellaserra is a pretty hotel, also consider Hotel Cheval in downtown Paso. :)

Hi Murray,

Thanks for the recommendation to stop in at Hahn Winery. We appreciate. Now's a great time of year to visit. Harvest still has a few more weeks left.
