Morro Bay or Cayucos?

My husband and I (early 30's, no kids) are looking to spend a long weekend checking out the Paso Robles area (first time) and doing some wine tasting, of course! We were thinking of staying in one of the somewhat nearby beach towns because the hotel prices seem to be a little better and more available than those in Paso, and it's always nice to be near the beach!

Would you recommend Morro or Cayucos as far as better hotels, beach, and accessibility to wineries?

Cayucos is closer to the wineries, but Morro Bay has a better selection of hotels.

Personally, I would choose Cambria over both of these, since Hwy 46 is just a few miles south of town leading you to Paso wine country. Cambria Pines Lodge, Bluebird Hotel or Creekside Hotel are affordable options. If you like B&B type accommodations, then the Olallieberry Inn or Squibb House are affordable options in Cambria.

Cambria is an excellent suggestion, if you want to be right across the street from the ocean (Moonstone Beach) there is the Best Western Fireside Inn which is reasonable, they also have a great swimming pool and jacuzzi area and complimentary breakfast in the quaint breakfast room there. This is a gorgeous area of the Central Coast to spend time in and much more scenic than Morro or Cayoucos, IMO.

Hope this helps and have a great time in Paso and on the coast. What places are you planning on visiting for your wine tasting in Paso? :)
