Neighborhood Walk from Garden Court Hotel

We'll be spending a Sun. night at Garden Court (Cowper and University) and want to take an afternoon walk in the neighborhood. Am wondering whether to walk down Cowper away from University or if other side streets may have more interesting architecture, window shopping, etc. We'll spend the next day at Stanford, so am interested in walking right around the Garden Court area, not on University.

The Professorville area with historic houses is 5 blocks south of University

(bounded on the north by Addison, east by Emerson, west by Cowper, and south by Embarcadero). Many of these houses were built in the 1890s and early 1900s by and for Stanford professors.

Even tho' I surprisingly rec'd no responses to my post last Summer, we ended up just walking several blocks around the area and did see many historic homes (and the famous garage where the seeds of Apple took root!) and attractive, well-kept gardens along the tree-lined streets. Very nice walking neighborhood that the Garden Court Hotel is loc'd in. Previously we've taken a look at some of the Professorville houses and they are definitely worth seeing on a stroll. Thanks, Chriskuo for keeping this thread alive!
