We are taking the train form JLS to Santa Barbara early on a Sunday morning.
Our hotel (Inn at Jack London Square) does not provide breakfast and a quick search shows most places either don't open for breakfast at weekends or not until at least 8am which will be too late for us.
Does anyone know of anywhere that opens early where we can pick up a light breakfast to take on the train with us?

Just to be clear, you are staying at the Inn at Jack London Square, right? The nearby Jack London Inn was ranked the nation's second dirtiest hotel in 2011--the last year that TripAdvisor put together such a list.
As for breakfast, you have at least two options:
Nation's - Local chain that is somewhere between a diner and fast food in terms of quality, price, and speed. - http://www.nationsrestaurants.com
Buttercup Grill & Bar - Best classified as a diner. I haven't actually eaten here, but it looks decent from the street. - http://buttercupgrillandbar.com
There is food available on the train as well.

Yes, we are staying at the Inn at Jack London Square, not the Jack London Inn (don't worry I've seen the reviews!)
The hotel eventually mentioned the Buttercup after a few emails back and forth and it looks good actually, just what we were looking for.
I know there is food on the train but I was just looking for a bit more choice.
