Visiting St. Marys college, California near Oakland"

I am looking for any advice regarding a trip to a volleyball tournament at St.Marys College Moraga, california. Would love to visit San Francisco and Napa Valley. So I would like to find a centrally located hotel or B & B, would consider staying in a couple different places. We will be there Wed or Thurs through Sunday. Help!!!! Thank you!!

All of these are within an hour of each other or so. It depends in part how much time you need to spend at the Valley Ball Tournament. It sounds like you will have a car.

You could stay in San Francisco - but parking is high priced. some places do have free parking, but most charge around $40.00 a night to park the car. Chancellor is central to many thing in San Francisco; for free parking Columbus Motor Inn.

On the East bay side, you might want to consider staying in Berkeley.

Rose Garden Inn is a nice bed and breakfast with free parking.

If you do have enough time, it is nice to spend a night in Napa - however if just a day trip and if the volleyball tournament is the focus of your trip, staying closer to St.Mary's College might make sense.

If not, there are a number of wonderful bed and breakfasts in Napa. Napa Old World Inn would be a nice place to stay - there are many great bed and breakfasts in Napa.

Bottom line, nothing is "central" to seeing Napa and San Francisco from St. Mary's. You need to realize that you're in a suburban area and rush hour traffic will be an issue. Also, you need to give us a better idea of your time schedule at this tournament and how much free time you have.

St. Mary's to SF can be 30 minutes or 60+ depending upon day of the week and time of day. However, if you can arrange to visit without a car, BART is about 30-40 minutes: www.bart.gov

St. Mary's to Napa is minimum of an hour, perhaps more, again depending upon traffic.

There are wineries in the Livermore Valley that might be a bit more convenient to St. Mary's. http://www.lvwine.org/

There's some distance between these places. The Rose Garden Inn in Berkeley and the Claremont Hotel on the Oakland/Berkeley border are the most centrally located between the three locations. However, our recommendations may change based on your schedule and how it relates to rush hour traffic.
