What is the area like around the Newport Marriott Villas, as far as restaurants, things to do?

Newport Coast Villas? marriott.com/hotels/…
Here's the link to the hotel's web site list of "nearby restaurants." Note that the closest is 1 mile away.
There is quite a bit within a 15 minute drive, including Laguna Beach, Newport Peninsula and Balboa Island but not much within walking distance, unless you are a very strong walker.
The Villas sit on a hill overlooking the ocean in a mostly residential area.
The resort is isolated to the extent that you probably will not want to leave the resort and "walk down to the neighborhood cafe" for breakfast.

The "A" is the Newport Coast Villas. As you can see there is little there. Some people like that isolation, others like to have activities right out their door. If you want villas where you can do you own cooking and have the room of a condo they are great, just don't plan on strolling to dinner to a variety of spots.
