Perfect Day in Napa

We are staying in Healdsburg but want to spend a day in Napa too. We have dinner back in Healdsburg at 7 pm but are free otherwise. Does anyone have any suggested itineraries for the perfect food/wine in Napa? Thanks!

Traveling into Napa Valley from Healdsburg, suggest the Hwy 128 route through Knights Valley, very scenic. Stop at Hanna just before Chalk Hill Rd. for gorgeous views. Then continuing south, this will drop you in to the northern-most reaches of Napa Valley, and focus on touring wineries in the Calistoga & Diamond Mountain AVAs, e.g. Von Strasser, Envy and Chateau Montelena, and if time allows, Castello di Amorosa.

For a convenient food stop, think about Silverado Brewing Co. for lunch, a downtown Calistoga restaurant/shopping excursion or take a meal at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Greystone on Hwy 29.

For even more fun and if you have time, consider a spa treatment/mud bath in Calistoga. Then head back to Healdsburg in the golden afternoon sunlight showering the vineyards (photo op!) via Hwy 128 for dinner, heavenly!
