napa luxury/romantic hotel

Hi,

My wife and I will spend four nights in nappa in early november. A romantic getaway! Considering rates are not an issue, please help us to decide where to stay. Our first choice was Auberge du Soleil or Meadwood Resort. Someone told us that Meadowood is a bit tired and undergoing renovations (?). On the other hand, if we choose to stay in Yountville, what is the best choice ?

On the other hand, we have read that Kenwood inn, in Kenwood, received the best awards (?). Please help, Mario.

Hi Mario,

If you want to stay in a romantic town where you can walk to dinner, then Yountville would be the best choice. The hotels and B&B's are very nice. On the scale with Auberge- probably Bardessono.

Hi Mario,

What is most important to you?

Views? Spa services? Onsite restaurant/room service? 24/7 butler/maid service?

Something else?

The Napa Valley caters to its share of celebs-- but we rarely talk about that level of accommodation on these forums (since the rates exceed $5000/night).

But we're happy to share what is appropriate. Is $16K/night too much? You can get some really neat stuff at that level (private chef, great views, car avail 24/7, space for a private jet at the local airport, etc).

Please let us know. Happy to help. :)

Auberge is great and has a wonderful restaurant onsite. However so does Meadowood. Although I don't know any thing about the rooms at Meadowood.

Calistoga Ranch and Solage are also higher end resorts in the valley. You might want to check them out.

Thank you for your prompt answer. To be more specific, we are between Auberge and Meadowood. We are not certain if Meadowood is conducting a refurbishment.

If we decide to stay in Yountville, is Villagio a good bet? What´s your first and second choice in Yountville ?

Mario,

Auberge is one of the places that has the options we listed above.

They have a personal concierge if you want to arrange this type of superlative experience.

Other options besides Auberge include private residences, w/full staffs. This is the approach favored by most captains of industry and A-list celebs, as it gives the most privacy.

Yountville does not have any facilities with the level of luxury mentioned above-- but it's a lovely town, and has some nice spa hotels. :)

One place in Yountville that hasn't been mentioned here is the Poetry Inn:

This would be a great choice for a romantic getaway but you would need to drive to restaurants since it's in the hills overlooking the Valley.

We just got back, stayed at Auberge and Bardessono. We preferred Bardessono some parts of Auberge felt tired, its more isolated and was almost too quiet. Bardessono was so fresh and elegant and alive, it had great energy. Both very pretty, elegant but very different.
