Shopping and eating in LA

Hi, I would like to ask, which place is the best for shopping (clothes, etc.) and which restaurants are the best and not very expensive for eating out? Thank you ;)

What part of the city of Los Angeles (or surrounding areas) will you be staying at? The Greater Los Angeles Area is Very large and has 5 counties that make up the area.

As for shopping, I like the Citadel Outlets in the city of Los Angeles, and then The Outlets of Orange near Disney, the Ontario Mills Outlet Mall, plus the combination of the Cabazon and Desert Hills Outlet Malls.

Will you also rent a car?

Los Angeles is enormous (unlike compact Dublin)!

Where are you staying, will you have a car, and what's on your itinerary?

What do you mean by "best"?

What kind of clothing shopping? Massive outlets, Mainstream Malls, Boutique shops?

Designer fashions, 'everyday' clothes?

For men? women? kids?

Generally, the outlet malls can have good deals but are mostly inconveniently located if you are going to stay somewhere central. And, in case you won't have a car while here, be advised they are all difficult or impossible to reach without one - public transit either takes forever to reach them, or doesn't even go near some of them, and the cost of taxi rides from anywhere central to the outlets will wipe out any savings you might achieve by going to one.

More convenient shopping deals can be found within the city at some discount stores, like Ross Dress For Less, Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx. Plus, Macy's department store will give you an 11% discount if you show your passport, and that's on top of any sales that they may have in progress while you're here.

However, I also note from your other posts that you are considering going to Las Vegas as well. If that's the case, I'd do your shopping there. Las Vegas has outlet malls too, but they're all much closer to the city and much easier to reach, especially if you won't have a car, than what you'll find in the LA area.

As for inexpensive restaurants, there are good choices all over LA. It would be best to know where you are staying and what attractions you'll be visiting and then we can give you suggestions conveniently located to those.

As others have pointed out the Greater Los Angeles area has 4x the population (20 million) of the Republic of Ireland and is also larger geographically than the Republic so where you are staying is crucial to recommendations, especially for eating.

For shopping it depends not only on where you are staying, but where else you might be heading. There may be better shopping areas than LA.
