Where to stay in LA

Hi , any advice on where to stay in LA, for June 11-23, 2 adults 3 kids (aged 16,14 girls and boy 10)? We arrive in LAX around 7.30pm so it kind of late to go very far. Although we are going to rent a van.

So for the first days I thought of staying somewhere near the Airport not to travel long. Then we want to go to Universal, Disney, San Diego, a beach, always based in a house in LA, is this convenient? or we better move from one place to another for 3/4 days?

Looking for good budget (I need sth of less than usd 200/nt tax and everyth incl.) rental in a clean nice place.

Staying in LA to visit Disneyland is not usually suggested. Anaheim where Disneyland is located is about a 1 hour drive South of LA.

For a multiple day stay at Disneyland its usually suggested you stay in that area for that part of your visit.

San Diego is a good 21/2 hour drive or so from LA, so its also not convenient to stay in LA to visit.

You may want to look at something such as Bing Maps which can help you see where things are located, and plot out your route.

If you will tell us how many days you may want spend in LA, Anaheim ( for Disneyland) and San Diego, Im sure we can better help you plan your visit.

Thanks, if we have to split, there would be maybe 3 in Disney for a 2 day visit, 3 near Universal also for a 3 day visit and the rest may be in the beaches or closer to S. Diego or S. Barbara. Thanks. GAby

You would really only need 1 day to visit Universal Studios. 3 days would be too much Imo. Unless you mean you will be planning on staying in that area to visit LA for the other 2 days?

A nice trip would be about 3 days at Disneyland, 3 days in LA area, 3 days in San Diego area. All of which have lots of interesting things to do. And, you can stay near the Ocean in San Diego and still be very close driving distance to San Diego Attractions.

You also may want to look at something like the Southern California City Pass which offers a 3 day Disneyland Parkhopper ticket, 1 day SeaWorld San Diego ticket, and 1 day Universal Studios ticket for a good value.

You can also look at the Mousesavers website which lists current discounts on attractions ( they dont sell tickets) and you can compare multi-attractions ticket to individual ones to see what may work out best for you.

If you would like help finding somewhere to stay ect in the 3 different areas, you can also post in the specific City forums you are thinking of visit ( like the LA forum where you are at now). Im sure someone familiar with the LA area will come along soon to help you plan where is a good place to stay in that area.

Sorry to ask again, now I am thinking to stay either near the airport in the Hyatt Home (or house) El Segundo for 3 days or in the Orchid Suites, to see Hollywood, central LA and eventually Universal. Which is better?

Then move to another Hyatt House in Cypress for 4/5 days and then move to a suites hotel near San Diego (suggestions accepted).

What do you think?
