Where do we stay help!!!!

Hello we are an Australian couple in our early 30's planning our first o/sea trip to West Coast USA, we have all plans in place for all other areas yet struggling with where to stay in LA - so vast and so many options. We must see Universal Studios, Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame,(likely tour for these anyhow) Wax Museum, Santa Monica and everything else we can get our hands on, not planning on driving although can mix it up if need be. Preferrably something in walking distance to restaurants / bars at night yet good public transport options. Would appreciate any help we can get, Thank you :) Ste & Sar

Hi there,

Based on my opinion, you should stay somewhere along Hollywood and Highland.

The Loews Hollywood Hotel is perfect as it is right near the shopping mall and hollywood boulevard (where the walk of fame is, and other attractions such as wax museums. The stops for many tours are located right outside the hotel as well as good public transport options. It is just a short drive to Universal and about 20-30 minutes to Santa Monica.

It is also near Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and Melrose Ave, the Grove etc.

The Loews Hollywood Hotel is reasonably priced and quite nice for what you pay for. They can also book all your tours etc for you. Ask for a room with a view of the hollywood sign - amazing.

There are many good bars/restuarants along Hollywood Boulevard/ Highland.

Enjoy your trip :)

I agree with the previous suggesting to stay near Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. This area has great public transit (you can get anywhere that you mentioned from here in one-two bus/subway rides) and tour bus access.

Not sure of your budget but the Loew's and the Roosevelt across the street are the pricier and fancier options in this area. If those exceed your budget, there are many other less expensive options - Magic Castle Hotel, Holiday Inn Express Walk of Fame, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, Orchid Suites, and others.

Hi Sarah,

Like you we were bamboozled by all the options available but didnt want to spend a fortune on 5* accomodation, using it purely as a base to sleep, but wanted good reviews, safe area, reasonable prices, close to tourist area ( same attractions as you nearby) etc and after much research went for Magic Castle Hotel, Hollywood. No.2 on Tripadvisor...heated outdoor pool, Free breakfast, snacks and drinks during stay, friendly helpful staff with exclusive access as a guest to Magic Castle Club. Awesome views of LA by night just up the hill apparently. Choice of rooms/apartments and near to Hop on Hop off LA tour bus which gives you option of 3 interconnecting routes to all the LA sites for around 35 sterling for a 2 day pass. Nowhere will be perfect accepted, but it ticks most boxes for us and looks a fun place.

check it out - Happy Holiday!
