Ralph's Supermarket is about 6 blocks north of the Bonaventure. It is a full service chain supermarket. There is no Walmart anywhere near.
Walk up 4th to the Grand Central Market 4/10th mile from the Bonaventure:

There's a Target on Figueroa and 7th.
There are no Walmart's within the city of LA, they are all outside the actual city. Will you have a car?
There are none right in the downtown area. A google maps search of "Walmart near Los Angeles" reveals a few within @ 20 minute drive, if you have a car. Leimert Park/Crenshaw; Pico Rivera; Rosemead.
The location at 4101 Crenshaw is @ 40-45 minutes ride using public transit. That location is actually in city of LA, not that it makes any difference. Unless you MUST see a Walmart, I'd go with that Target store mentioned above.

unfortunately I won't have a car as the price of parking at the bonaventure is ridiculous
Price of parking at the Bonaventure is at a par with all hotels in LA, fyi.
Without a car, getting to Walmart is more expensive than whatever you would save shopping there (especially when you equate your time on vacation as valuable as money)
Walmart seems to have a certain caché for some visitors but, especially in L.A., Walmart's stores are old and in inconvenient and often unattractive neighborhoods.
Target stores, on the other hand are much newer, much more plentiful and easier to reach. The difference in pricing between a Walmart and a Target is just pennies on the dollar so I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Walmart.
