4/5 nights in LA, where to stay

Hi,

A brief ouline...

I want to stay in LA for 4 or 5 nights, having driven from San Fran and will be leaving for Las Vegas once finished.

I need advice on where to stay. We will only be doing typical tourist stuff, universal studios, hollywood, la galaxy game hollywood hills etc.

We are renting a car, travelling as two couples and staying in separate rooms.

I dont want to go above $125 dollars a night, per room.

I want to stay somewhere safe and with parking, Im not too fussy and understand i pay for what i get!! Oh and it will be May time

Please help

You won't find a room with that low a budget. Don't forget tax and for the lowest rate you'll maybe find 150-175/night in a very basic hotel. Look on Hollywood which is where the least expensive hotels are located.

When is this trip?

You're putting the cart before the horse. L.A. is enormous. Selecting a hotel should be driven by three factors. (1) Budget. (2) Rent a car or not. (3) Itinerary. You've answered the first two questions. However, your itinerary is vague -- "typical tourist stuff". Given L.A.'s size, this isn't wise since it is very easy to flounder.

Hollywood proper will take you about two hours, unless you see a movie on the historic screen at the Chinese. Combining it with Universal makes sense for most people. Galaxy game; that's far away so and really in the middle of nowhere. You'll need the car for that. Hollywood Hills; what's that mean? Mulholland Drive or Griffith Observatory are both nice. Work on your itinerary and

Your budget of $125 is low for L.A. Free parking is increasingly rare. Some inexpensive properties from Santa Monica to Culver City to Hollywood to downtown.

Recommend you go to a site like Expedia, plug in your dates, and sort by Guest Rating. You should find something.

There areseveral good choices not far out of your price range:

www.wilshirecresthotel.com

www.parkplazalodgehotel.com

www.hollywoodcityinn.net

www.blvdhotels.com (not sure about the free parking at these 2 )

Why not?

We have a car so it shouldn't be too bad?

It seems the best budget option
