somewhere to sleep at LAX?

our flight arrives at 7.00am from Brisbane in August next year and we don't fly out for Vancouver until 7.00pm that night so we have a 12 hour layover, is there anywhere at the airport that we may be able to rest for the day, something like a day room with facilities, we really don't want to leave the airport as we feel we may need the down time to freshen up, can anyone tell me if this is possible? thanks friends

Sorry, I can't help with day rooms at LAX. Others will be able to.

I suggest you check in to the cheapest airport hotel. You aren't leaving the hotel plot. Will almost certainly be offered a free shuttle to and from. And you get a comfy bed for seven hours sleep and a long, hot shower before heading back to the airport.

All for probably not a lot more than the lounge will cost you.

Try and check your bags in for the Vancouver flight before you leave the airport (even try and get them checked all the way from Brisbane) and you save even more time.

But, just a question, don't you fancy getting out and spending a few hours exploring L.A.? Getting your trip of to a flyer.

I would recommend the Travelodge LAX ... I stayed there a few years ago and they were fine... and good value too.

They will pick you up from the international terminal .. you just ring their phone located inside the terminal ... there is a pool, a 24-hour Dennys Restaurant and the rooms are really nice and located at the back of the hotel, so there is no street noise.

You will have to collect your luggage when you arrive, as you have to go through customs and immigration, but you can leave them in your room.

If the plane is on time, you probably wont get out of customs until 8.30 or 9am ... the queues can be long ... even the walk from the plane to immigration can take 10 minutes. Not to forget those people standing up in the plane dying to get out and as I am always at the back of the plane, that can take another 15 minutes ... so it all adds up.

Remember you need to check in at least 2.5hrs before your flight to Canada (maybe 3 hours .. check with the airlilne) ...

But if you do want to venture out, there is a Westfield at Fox Hills, about a 10 minute cab ride from the hotel).

Or, you can grab a cab and go about 20 minutes to Santa Monica to have a walk around the town and the pier

Other people recommend Manhattan Beach too ... so you have plenty of choices if you do want to stretch the legs and get out of the room for a couple of hours.

Enjoy...

Why such a long layover? There are frequent, inexpensive flights between LAX and YVR, For example, WestJet has an 11:30 departure from LAX for $171 USD
