1. Re: Wineries?

There are a fair number of wineries in Livermore.

They are within a 5 mile drive of one another and are smaller wineries; except for Wente which is fairly large winery that also has a nice restauarant to go to; golf course; and special events such as concerts. Its worth a stop at Wente.

A good overall guide to the Livermore wineries is:

Purple Orchard Resort and Spa is nice but expensive

If you'd like you can also check out Pleasanton area...The Rose Hotel (see comments on Trip Advisor: tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32904-d225913-… .

Enjoy planning your trip.

is within an easy drive of Livermore. Pleasanton has small town charm with lots of restaurants (Mediterreanean Tapas, Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Pizza, etc.) We like to go there as its a very fvriendly community. They have a farmers market on Saturday which is fun to stroll through.

2. Re: Wineries?

We want to stay overnight in the town after going to the wineries. Are there any for about 75-90 a night. We would be flying out of Oakland airport the next morning, so how much time should we allow to get to there? Is there a shuttle that runs between the hotel area and the airport?

Thanks for your help.

4. Re: Wineries?

There are a number of hotels in that price range in northern and northwestern Livermore, the DoubleTree club is probably the closest to the wineries, and is reasonably priced (there are some in downtown Livermore but all are low-end "motor courts").

It will take about 45 minutes to get to the Oakland airport and park if you're leaving on a weekend. If it's during the morning westbound commute (6-9AM) figure an hour and a half (the traffic on that section of 580 is some of the worst in the Bay Area). Hope you enjoy your trip.
