Laguna Beach Inn or Holiday Inn 4 nights end of August??

I think I am in the final decision making between these 2 hotels. Traveling with hubby and two preteen boys so the swimming pool and proximity to the beach is essential. Budget is in the $200 range per night if anyone has other ideas. Desires are: CLEAN, up-to-date (read=no horrible, unwashed floral bedspreads), close walking distance to beach and restaurants, no exhorbitant parking/resort/wifi fees. A light continental breakfast would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Planning on spending a day at Crystal Cove/Beachcombers, probably a half-day on the water fishing, kayaking or whale watching and a day exploring Laguna shops and it's beaches. We are pretty set on the Laguna or Dana Point area. Thanks for the help!

Actually Remdog, the Laguna HI really IS the new "average" for Holiday Inn.

The owners of the old franchises that wouldn't invest in the upgrades mentioned in the article have been kicked out of the chain. All of the others are either renovated or in the process of renovating. HI is going to be the new upscale choice in lodging.

Actually Cats, much of what I referring to was the location, the construction and the surrounding area which, even if they are upgrading the Fresno CA HI, doesn't apply to this particular property.
