hi,

I am planning to do the 3 days river cruise going from Chongqing (downstream).

Can someone who's done this cruise tell me where the pier for this ship is located in Chongqing?

The tour company wants to charge me $100USD just for transfer from the train station to the pier. i think this is way too expensive and rather try and get there by myself.

Can someone please help?

I'm flying out to China in a couple of days and would like to get this all sorted out before i leave.

Hi there, we did the Victoria cruise 2 weeks ago. I'm sorry I don't really remember how far the train station is, because we went to have breakfast, and then had a city tour and zoo visit before we got on board in the afternoon.

Ship boarding is not normally possible until 2pm, but our guide kept calling and we did get on board at about 12:30 ish from memory.

$100 USD does sound a bit steep, I'd say $65USD would be about what is normally charged for a transfer by a chinese tour company directly. The thing is, you basically normally will get an English-speaking guide to meet you, and maybe help you with luggage, a nice car, and a driver to the train station to pick you up, then look after you until your cruise is ready. They'll also be able to tell you a bit about the city as you drive through it.

If you're booking through an overseas agency, then $100USD might seem reasonable to them.

I'd say that a taxi from train station to pier on the meter would almost be guaranteed to be cheaper, but if you're not familiar with China, this would probably be a bit scary ... I certainly wouldn't do it.

Way too much. I don't think it costs more than 50 RMB (around 6 USD) by normal taxi to get from the train station to the pier -- I believe all the cruise boats depart from the same place.

There are really not much to see along Yangtze since the dam was completed.

Water level has gone up 175 meters.

All the artifacts are submerged under the water.

Yangtze Cruise has become a stretch Staten Island Ferry ride!

Imagine you take a cruise on Hudson river for 4 days from New York Harbor to Fort Erie.

You might enjoy the first few hours only but not for the entire 4 days.

If you plan to travel this far to China/Asia, plan some places else instead of Yangtze Cruise.

If you take the taxi, it could cost you as little as 10.4 RMB because it's just a 5.1km short trip.

I've made a google map for you:
