Parking at Hyatt Huntington Beach

We are considering a stay at the Hyatt, but feel the parking fees are excessive and unnecessary. If we do decide to stay there, is there any free or cheaper parking within walking distance?

Thanks for any help.

Not really.

There is the city lot across the street, but there you wouldn't in and out privileges and it closes at 9PM for entries so you couldn't go out at night and come back after that time and park in there.

Parking at hotels in many cities in the US is very expensive, just like it is in London. It is one of those things you just have to calculate into the cost of the room. There are meters on Pacific Coast Hwy. There is also the option mentioned in the public beach lot, but for $15 and limited access. HB does have some street parking but I don't think there is any very close. I think the only practical thing is to pay their parking fee.

Actually the Hyatt's parking fee is relatively low compared to other large resort or urban hotels. You could always opt to not have your rental car for your entire stay and just rent a car for the days you'll be using it. Several rental agencies, including Hertz and Avis have local offices near the Hyatt and will pick you up from the hotel.

Check the photo of the meters ($1.50/hour from 8 am-10 pm but you should check the meter itself) on the PCH Jennifer is talking about at http://goo.gl/maps/P8fJF

The Hyatt is behind on the left and the public beach parking lot is on the right.

If your trying to save money on parking and the beach parking lot is not an option for you, park your car on Atlanta and walk to the hotel. Parking on Atlanta from 1st street towards Beach Blvd is not metered and parking within the housing area is also free. It may be difficult to find a spot but not impossible. Just remember, it a bit of a walk! You decide if it is worth the savings or not.

I noticed today that some of the Hyatt's special offer packages do include daily valet parking. For instance this Hotel & Disneyland Package: …hyatt.com/hyatt/…

Check the "Special Offers" on the hotel's web site. If your visit is beyond the dates stated, call the hotel manager's office (not central reservations) and ask if they would extend the dates to your stay.

Regardless of whether you pay for parking... you should have a great stay. Had a great time during both of my stays.
