nice beach and good seafood

My DH and I will be coming to the LA area (staying at the Embassy Suites South of the airport) for Dec. 1, 2011. We'll only be here one day and want to get out onto the beach and have a good seafood dinner someplace.

Does anyone have any good ideas for this. Would love if the restaurant would be on the beach so we can have a sunset time dinner.

If there are a few shops around it would be nice too. We will not have a car so we'll need to know how to get back and forth also.

Thanks for all of your help!

Does the restaurant have to be in Hermosa Beach? A few miles south of the Embassy Suites in El Segundo, is the new Strand House Restaurant, located at the base of the Manhattan Beach Pier. The sunset views from here are wonderful.

There is a several block area of shops and other restaurants to browse around the pier. A walk out on the pier to watch the surfers and volleyball players is fun.

Rock N'Fish across the street is very good as well.

CAnative is right on the mark. Just remember that sunset is at 4;45 PM that time of year. You may also like FISHBAR. Near the water, no view, but very highly rated. http://fishbarmanhattanbeach.com/
