Best steak in Freso? |

Where might I go to find the best steak in Fresno? |
|
Coming up with one single place would probably lead to a number of different opinions. In a city of 500,000 like Fresno there are lots of restaurants. It also depends on the price and atmosphere you want. But here are a few suggestions, some are chains other local places. I also posted some other places on another thread tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g32414-i734-k13861… The Manhattan http://www.themanhattansteakhouse.com/ Cool Hand Luke's Steakhouse http://www.coolhandlukes.com/home.html Flemings http://www.flemingssteakhouse.com/ Tahoe Joe's Famous Steak House Yosemite Ranch Steak and Seafood House

Thank you for the replies. They all look great? What's your favorite? Also, between Tahoe Joe's Famous Steak House and Yosemite Ranch Steak and Seafood House, what's your preference? I know Fleming is good, we have one here in Dayton. I've been there once, it was nice. Looking for something different, fun, and great steaks. Thanks, appreciate the help.

Ah, Dayton. I haven't been there in 15 years. I had business travel that took me to both downtown Dayton and the Wright-Pat area. Let's see the two you asked about, Tahoe Joe's and Yosemite Ranch, are actually a product of the same mind. Tahoe Joe's is a small California chain of about 12 restaurants started in Fresno. The founder sold and went on to start Yosemite Ranch. Personally I see a lot a similarity between the two. I'd probably say Tahoe Joes of those 2 since I don't see any real difference. We usually find ourselves at Cool Hand Lukes more often than the others on the list because of convenience. It is also a small California chain started in Fresno.

i know this is an old post but if anyone reads this looking for a good steak i would highly suggest the Elbow room which is in fig garden.

For a not exactly traditional, but still delicious steak I'd also consider one of the Teppanyaki restaurants, either Yoshino's (which is more of an upscale experience), Japanese Kitchen, or Edo-Ya among others. Something I enjoy doing when in Fresno, a change to the steak house.

Toyoko Steakhouse has really great Fillet Mignon at their Tappan-yaki dinners. We have been to Fleming's several times, their steaks are amazing there. Last night we celebrated my mom's birthday at Yosemite Ranch and had a wonderful time. Calamari and Sweet Potato Fries for appetizers, the Garden Bistro salad was very good with fresh greens, blue cheese, dried cranberries and citrus dressing, the Bacon-Wrapped fillets were excellent and perfectly cooked. They brought out a slice of Cheesecake with a candle for a complimentary birthday dessert at the end of the meal. Yosemite Ranch also serves Ravenswood Zin by the glass which I enjoyed with my meal. Our bill for 8 was under $200 and an 18% gratuity is added for groups of 8 and over. Cool Hand Luke's is also a nice choice for steaks but not on the same level as Yosemite Ranch or Fleming's. Another option is Yukon Jack's, a new place that just opened in Clovis. They have a really great Flat Iron Steak here for around $12.99 which is a good value, salad and sides are included with your entrees. :)

This past Sat. night we enjoyed an excellent meal at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, it is a fairly new venue with excellent steaks. We celebrated my son's girlfriend's 21st birthday and enjoyed the Shrimp Cocktail and the Arugula House Salad for appetizers, I had the Petite Fillet which was perfectly prepared, we ordered sides of the Cheesey Potatoes Au Gratin, Garlic Mashed Potaotes and the Baked Tomatoes. The table was set for us with birthday confetti and a complimentary bithday dessert was the Chocolate Lava Cake which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. There was also Champagne and glass of Justin Cabernet Sauvignon which complimented our meal nicely. :)

We celebrated New Year's Eve at Ruth's Chris and it was really nice! We had to wait awhile for our water and our wine to be corked (we brought in a bottle of 2005 King Estate Pinot Noir) so our server graciously comp'd us an appetizer of Crab Stuffed Mushrooms which were wonderful. We shared the Arugula Salad, I had the Steak and Lobster which was stuffed with fresh Crab meat. Our sides were the Creamed Spinach and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Everything was very good and our server was professional and attentive. No room for dessert, we had a movie to catch, walked over to Edward's for Bedtime Stories with Adam Sadler which was a fun movie. This is definitely a great place for a nice meal or a celebratory occasion. Happy New Year! :)

Most places listed here are chains. Fine, but not the best Fresno has to offer. Elbow Room, and another poster mentioned, is fairly good- big portions. In the same center, however (Fig Garden at Shaw and Bullard), you can enjoy Ripe Tomato. Acclaimed, independent and delicious. The fillet, the corn chowder (spicy, rich, unforgettable) and a little champagne will make for a fantastic, unique evening.

A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed a nice meal at Samba's Brazilian Steakhouse in the River Pointe shopping center. Very fun place where they carve the meat right off of the skewer at your table, you can eat as much as you want. They offer a nice buffet of salads, seafood, soup, cheeses, etc. to compliment your meal. There is also a new location in the Tower District. :)
