i might be going over to fostercity to stay for a few mths for work purpose.
i have never been there before, may i know if fostercity is a central business area?
are there any apartments nearby or tourist spots?
Foster City is a suburb which was built on landfill along the Bay so houses and condos are built on canals. Many people who live there have boats and there is a marina not far away as well.
There is little, if any, business district in terms of shops or restaurants but San Mateo is not far away (although I would not say walking distance).
But it is not a tourist area by any definition. San Francisco is about 15-20 miles north and there is train service from San Mateo into SF.
Outside of SF, one would normally need a car to get around if one lives in any of the San Francisco suburbs. That will give you the flexibility to check out San Francisco as well as other parts of the Bay Area and just do the normal daily things from commuting to work to shopping ect.
Most of the suburbs on the Peninsula have homes as well as rental properties. Unlike Singapore the apartments are not in large high rises. You can google apartments for rent in Foster city if you need more help
